Our Privacy Policy
This privacy policy sets out how Portuguese Water Dog Club of America, Inc. (PWDCA) uses and protects any information that you give PWDCA when you come to our site. We are committed to ensure that your privacy is protected.
What information we collect
We collect some information automatically from visitors to the site through the use of “cookies” (or other technologies such as pixel tags and web beacons). This information helps us better understand what visitors are interested in and helps us improve our site. Cookies are set not to record a visitor’s personal details. Cookies may collect any of the following: your domain name and host for Internet access; the Internet address of the site from which you came; the date and time of your access; your computer's IP address and information about its operating system, browser and host; the date and time you access the site and the pages you visit.
We also may employ tracking mechanisms from third-parties to help compile aggregated statistics regarding the operations of our site. Your privacy is important to us. To ensure your privacy we prohibit tracking mechanisms on our site that are used by third-parties to collect or access your personal information.
You may set your browser settings to block cookies or be notified when you receive a cookie. However, if you turn cookies off, you may not have access to some of the site's services and features.
For PWDCA Members: to gain access to member-only resources, the kinds of personal information we request about you include, but are not limited to: your name, address, email address, telephone number, city, state and zip code, as well as credit card number for membership dues, renewals, or program participation (e.g. breeder referral).
What we do with the personal information collected
For PWDCA Members: the PWDCA uses personal information we collect to better serve its members. For example, and without limitation, if you are a member, from time-to-time, we may send important member communication notices. Because this information is important to your interaction with the PWDCA, you may not opt-out of receiving these communications.
Annually, we will provide only our members first and last name to the AKC to fulfill our license requirements as an AKC parent club.
Children’s Privacy Policy
We do not collect personal information from a child under the age of 13, without the consent of a parent or guardian. This information is collected for participation in the Junior Affiliate program. Parents or guardians may review personal information we have collected on their child that has not been deleted, and can request that the personal information be deleted from our records.
Security
The site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. When you submit an online payment via a credit card the transaction is managed through MemberClicks’ network that is PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant for credit card transaction. We will not sell, rent, exchange, transfer or give to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the membership service requested. While we will do the utmost to protect your personal and other information submitted to this site, we cannot absolutely guarantee the security of personal information or other information in any form.
Ability to update your personal information
For PWDCA Members: you may update your personal information including first and last name, home or physical mailing address, email, and telephone numbers by logging into the member-only section of the site. Members should understand that we do retain your personal information in accordance with our records retention policy.
Third-Party Sites and Services
Our site may contain links to third-party websites. We have no control over, and are not responsible for the privacy policies or content on third-party sites. We encourage you to learn about their privacy practices of those third-parties.
Changes to our Privacy Policy
We may decide to change our Privacy Policy. If we do make changes to this policy, we will post the revised version on this site. If we change our policy in a way that will use personally identifiable information in a manner different from we have previously stated, we will notify you by way of an email. You will have the choice as to whether or not we use your information in this different manner.

The Health & Litter Database (HLD) contains dog and health information provided by owners and breeders of registered Portuguese Water Dogs. The database allows members to research dogs, provide dog and health information, view and print reports, as well as enter a new litter. Access is available to all PWD owners and breeders.
