Obedience

According to the Policies and Procedures Manual, the Obedience Committee is charged with educating owners on the importance of Obedience training their Portuguese Water Dogs, promoting and encouraging Obedience competitors, maintaining AKC Obedience and Tracking records for each PWD who competes and ranking the Top PWDs using the PWDCA Obedience Ranking System. It is also the responsibility of the Obedience Committee to create and distribute Awards Plaques for the Top PWDs each year and provide an Annual Report to the membership.

The Top Obedience Dogs for the year 2005 are:

The complete list of 2005 Top Ten Dogs at each of the Obedience levels is published in The Courier (May/June 2006). In addition, each month we publish New Titles Earned on the PWDCA list as well as the PWD list. We hope that giving recognition to these working teams not only provides them with well deserved pleasure but also encourages others to train for the competitions. The Courier, as always, assists the committee in its education efforts by publishing various articles written by committee members as well as the names of the dogs and their owners achieving new obedience titles each month.

A total of 68 new titles were earned by Portuguese Water Dogs during 2005:
36 CD - Companion Dog
18 CDX - Companion Dogs Excellent
3 UD - Utility Dog
5 UDX - Utility Dog Excellent
4 UDX2 - Utility Dog Excellent 2
1 UDX3 - Utility Dog Excellent 3
1 OTCH - Obedience Trial Champion

Tracking

In addition, there were 6 new Tracking Titles earned:
5 TD - Tracking Dog
1 TDX - Tracking Dog Excellent
